The Cheslin Kolbe Jink & Charge Down Breakfast!

Cheslin Kolbe leaving Owen Farrell flat on his face on his way to clinching the 2019 RWC title in Japan. Thomas Ramos’s face when his conversion attempt is charged down in the 2023 RWC Final! Two points saved which ultimately won the final for the Springboks!

These moments are now etched in Springbok folklore! But we could so easily have been denied these special moments. Kolbe was ignored by Springbok coaches early in his career due to his size. Enter Rassie Erasmus – who else! – and Cheslin is now the most elusive, explosive and devastating player in world rugby. And yes, he is a better player than Dupont! Kolbe should have earned double the number of Springboks caps he has. It’s madness that he has not. But he has not let this affect him, as he continues to bamboozle opponents on the field and is now without a doubt the most exciting rugby player on earth!

It is not easy to secure Kolbe for appearances, what with him playing in France and now Japan. But we have secured him for breakfast in Cape Town a few days after the final match of the Springboks year-end tour. So, a very topical rugby morning as Kolbe looks back on the tour and on a truly eventful and impactful career so far! His explaining how he planned the Ramos charge down is worth the entrance fee alone! Throwing in at the lineout and scum! And how he told Rassie not to select him for the 2019 RWC semi-final as it would affect team togetherness to go against an established injury protocol even though he was fit to play.

So, if you are planning your year-end function to thank key clients for their support during the year, why not join us to celebrate a great Springbok who has broken the mould that big guys win rugby matches!
